Irena Medavoy
Irena Medavoy is a children's and women's rights activist. She attended USC film school while working at The Hollywood Reporter and was mentored by the first female editor in chief Tichi Wilkerson Miles. She left USC to work at Sunn Classic Pictures as Vice president of Publicity and Public Relations. She started Phoenix Enterprises, the first all female direct response company with deals for manufacturing and producing product and infomercials for QVC, Kingworld Direct and American Telecast. She was co-chair of Coach For Kids , a mobile medical unit that provides free primary medical care services for low income children and their families. She is on the founders circle of Team Safe-T, an emergency preparedness program for the public school system in California. She funded the Margaret Gerasimenko fund for cancer research at UCLA at the Jonsson Cancer Research Center in honor of her mother, brother and aunt who died from the disease. She is now working with A Sense of Home started by Georgie Smith for age out foster youth's launched in 2014 in the Los Angeles area. She also works with Truth in Advertising on body image for young girls. She is married to movie producer Mike Medavoy and she has a 17 year old son Nick.
