Shilla Hekmat

Shilla Hekmat is an author and prominent piano instructor in Beverly Hills. Over the last 30 years, she has taught hundreds of students of all levels, from early beginners to advanced, many of whom have gone on to become successful musicians. She is also the author of a successful 16-book piano method teaching series that is used in many music schools around the world. Over the course of her teaching career, she has become an expert in recognizing the challenges and obstacles that many young musicians face. Shilla seeks to inspire children to believe in their full potential through music, dedicating her work to encouraging children to grow through performance. Shilla’s unique ability is that she can naturally take any student and help build their confidence to motivate them in order to achieve their best. Her students have won numerous national competitions. She has also given lectures at the Music Teachers Association of California on “Top 5 Reasons Why Children Quit Lessons”. She has also written articles for Keyboard Companion magazine on piano improvisation and composition. Beyond her career, she is a committee member and 2023 chair for Looking Beyond, a non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of children with disabilities. Shilla is the proud mother of two amazing children, Paulina and Kevin.
