Downtown Women’s Center

The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. Founded in 1978, their mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy. DWC was the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the United States. Among the many services they provide, they offer the only health clinic exclusively for women in Skid Row, and the only Drop-in Day Center exclusively for homeless women in the city of Los Angeles.

Through the support of Visionary Women, DWC’s Financial Literacy Education Program was able to provide the technology, training materials, curriculum and workshops for financial literacy training and resources to over 350 women in their learning center.
